Microneedling - How does it work?

Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small, sterilized needles to prick the skin. When properly performed, your body’s natural healing process will stimulate collagen production.

Collagen is a vital protein that maintains skin elasticity and firmness. Increased collagen helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin aging. Collagen levels decrease as we age but new collagen can be created while the skin is in repair mode from microneedling.

Microneedling with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C

At our clinics, microneedling is coupled with organic hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C serum to add plumpness and hydration into the skin. This will further improve skin texture, reduce wrinkles and sagging skin and, minimize signs of aging.

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring molecule that is found throughout your body. It has the ability to retain moisture, thus effectively drawing water into the tissues and binding it to keep the skin hydrated and lubricated. It also controls inflammation and enhances tissue repair. Hyaluronic acid levels naturally declines as we age leading to wrinkles and skin dryness.

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that offers numerous benefits for skin health including increasing collagen production, reducing hyperpigmentation as well as protecting against ultraviolent (UV) damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Microneedling suitable for all skin types?
Microneedling is considered safe and effective for all skin types.

Who cannot do microneedling?
People who have active acne, bleeding disorders, a weakened immune system or skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis should avoid microneedling.

When do I see results?
For most individuals, 5 - 8 treatments spacing 3 - 6 weeks apart can achieve optimal results. However, the number of treatments needed will depend on your skin condition and individual goals. Maintenance treatments every 2 - 3 months is highly recommended.

What is the downtime?
Some redness, swelling, itchiness and dryness are common for the first two days. The most intense inflammation should subside after the first day. Avoid putting makeup on for the first 2 days.
